Grimes performs “Genesis” on “Later…With Jools Holland”
Grimes played her dreamy, transcendent tune “Genesis” on Later…With Jools Holland last night, which probably helped Britain forget that their entire government is currently tearing itself apart, at least for a few minutes.

NOISEMAKERS: Episode 3 with Little Scream

When we arrived at iconic Toronto record store Sonic Boom, the intersection of hard-to-find music documentaries, one-dollar vinyl, and the ‘industrial’ section was somehow the perfect place to set up Little Scream. Flanked by hundreds of years of music history, Laurel Sprengelmeyer performed The Golden Record cut “Your Radio” for our cameras, backed by Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry on drums/vocals/noises and Marcus Paquin on guitar/vocals.

Live video: Reworking Randy Bachman, featuring Zeus (courtesy of CBC Music). Neil Quin is currently one of my favourite songwriters, and Bachman rightly declares them the next wave of Canadian rock and roll. The Zeus boys will be rolling through the east coast supporting Sam Roberts Band this coming week.

Happy release day! The Wooden Sky - “Bald, Naked and Red” (live). The first of a five part series of live performances captured at the Grace on the Hill Church in Toronto. Directed by Scott Cudmore.

Shotgun Jimmie - “Late Last Year” live for Exclaim! TV. One of my favourite songs from 2011, the line “I was afraid ‘cause I thought that you were pretty bad-ass and not into holding hands” is also definitely up there for favourite lyric. Enjoy!
